The future of concrete5: Scalability & cloud-hosting (fortrabbit,pagodabox,...)

Hey c5-devs!

I recently stumbled over the new player in the market of php cloud development/deployment providers:
http://fortrabbit.com

FortRabbit does not really reinvent the wheel, Pagodabox (or PHPFog) offer a similar service. The guys from focus43 created a very detailed tutorial for concrete5 & pagodabox:http://11robot.com/

The advantages I see in these services:
* No more sysadmin stuff regarding server optimization and security stuff (you see my problem regarding performance here e.g.:http://www.concrete5.org/community/forums/customizing_c5/load-testi...
* Nice and effective deployment workflow (I use the same workflow by now, just custom built with the help of jenkinshttp://jenkins-ci.org/
* We have customers who only have certain days where real traffic hits the server, the rest of the time the server performance is not really needed (so paying perfomance per day is a real money-saver) - in the days the traffic comes I think fortrabbit could give me a nice tool to monitor & handle the traffic by scaling up

Now I thought about this and apparently we all know that concrete5 is quite heavy to handle for servers (which is getting better - thanks to the devs! - and also is just the result of the great flexibility of c5). So I also read this guide:
http://fortrabbit.com/docs/in-depth/app-design-and-optimization...

My questions are:

* Will scaling up the resources in fortrabbit/pagodabox really help to get more out of concrete5? Does anybody have experiences with that?

* will concrete5 be able to support a cloud storage provider / CDN soon? (because fortrabbit e.g. does only provide 5GB writable storage with no additional capacities)

I really like the idea of switching to fortrabbit in the near future, because I really like the advantages for php developers, but I don't know if concrete5 is ready for that.

What do you think about this? What are your experiences?

Cheers,
Matthias

If you like Fortrabbit, then try out Cloudways PHP web hosting (https://www.cloudways.com/en/php-cloud-hosting.php ) as well. It is basically a PaaS that makes it easier for anyone to host PHP based apps on popular infrastructures like DigitalOcean, Amazon EC2, etc. The best thing about them is that the are providing managed services, which means you don't need to worry about server related stuff. All of that is managed by their team so users can focus on building their app.
