Transition to Git? When?

It's been mentioned that the plans for the new year include moving to Git for version control. I am curious when that is planned. The original post by Franz seems to have disappeared...

Probably not til after January. This month we are all tied up making improve=
ments to concrete5.org. Shouldn't be long after that

Not to thread hijack but does this mean everything is delayed? Should we hold back Marketplace submissions until after this month?
