update page type defaults

If I want to change a default block in a page type, and want that block to be updated on all existing pages, is there a way to make that happen? I know if you define a default then create a new page of that type it will work, but can you retrospectively update old pages?

Just click that block after you edit it in page defaults and select 'Setup on Child Pages', then check all pages you want to apply the change to and click Update.
