Version 8.2.1 image upload problems - green then fail

I am having issues uploading any images at all, initially with both firefox and crome the image uploader wouldn't even open so I have had to resort to using windows explorer. Now the image uploader is opening, once an image is nearly uploaded it just turns red and then fails. I have similar threads but none of them seem to have got an answer.

I've had a similar issue and have determined with high reliability that it is due to my internet connection. My main connection is via geosync satellite (XplorNet) with a high latency. If I do the same uploads using my LTE cell connection, all is well. Using the satellite connection, some or all of the uploading files will show green, then red, then I get bounced out of the session. After logging in again everything is normal, as if I had logged out normally.
Are these files particularly large?
When they fail, is there any error message in your browser console?
You may need to turn on "Log XMLHttpRequests" in your browser developer tools.
