This is my first post so just to say hi to everybody.

I've been watching Concrete5 CMS with interest for a while now. Watched some video tutorials and I really like what I see. Before I start building my first page I have few questions for experienced users.

I was wondering would it be possible to do this list of elements in Concrete5 with core functions or free addons?:
- blogs (with categories, archives etc.)
- building a little more complicated forms than just simple contact form (with text, textarea, radio buttons, checkbox etc.)
- picture galleries, sliders, videos, google maps

I have to say I don't mind paying for addons for more complex elements.

Thanks in advance.

Short answer - Yes.

C5 is free, download and play. Try to develop locally.

I use MAMP (My Apache - MySQL - PHP):http://www.mamp.info

And Coda2 - Mac only:http://panic.com/coda/

Thanks for the answer.
Yes I will definitely try it locally first.

So which solution for building forms do you recommend?

So far I've build sites with Wordpress only and I find it very limited for anything that is custom designed. I like to design websites from blank slate. So, my search for better and simpler (to template) CMS brought me to Concrete5.

There is a "form" block for Concrete5 by default (so in the core). With this you can build your forms which users can fill in and send to any email address you'd like (or don't send an email, and just let it be inserted into your database).

Slider also in the core, Youtube video as well, same for Google Maps. Galleries is something you have to build yourself or download. But that wouldn't be such a biggy.

I'd say go ahead and install, try it out and click and experiment. You'll probably love it :)
