We can build it together

Is anyone else getting bugged with the 'We can build it together' banner.

For me, its sliding down and needing to be dismissed on nearly every new page I visit on this site.

There is no option to turn it off.

I even tried going through the process of saying 'yes' and following the chain of questions (its an existing site, this one, and I can't get rid of the annoying banner), but ended up on the marketplace refund page. :-(

Hi JohntheFish,

I am not having this issue. What browser are you using?

After clicking "Learn More" or "Dismiss", a "wcbit" cookie is set which prevents the banner from displaying again.

Chrome. Cookies are on.
Its a particular nuisance when editing addon pages, uploading and profile stuff.

Ad Block blocks it. I just saw it for the first time.

I'm getting it now. I suspect they've broken the cookie arrangement. My browser accepts cookies. It's Not A Good Look.

I agree that there might be better ways to handle the banner.

Communicating the "We Can Build It Together" message is very important though, which offers an opportunity for the community to think of alternative suggestions to accomplish this.

For anyone else not familiar with "We Can Build It Together", please read this blog post:

I can't stress enough how important this is. Ultimately, it will lead to a stronger Portland Labs, better concrete5 ecosystem, allow agencies to tap into the expertise of Portland Labs on projects, and drive business into the Portland Labs network of developers and agency partners. It is a win for everyone involved - users, designers, and developers.

I basically agree. C5 is a wonderful product, and monetising it must be very difficult. I definitely don't have a problem with the banner appearing initially. But if it can't be dismissed once and for all, it detracts from the use of the site and annoys would-be customers and developers. That's deleterious to C5's future, which is the opposite effect to that intended. Methinks a better balance is needed.

A banner that comes up once per session and then hides. One where the functionality works, is a good advert for concrete5.

A banner that comes up too often, that irritates, that has visitors questioning whether it has been implemented and tested thoroughly, is a bad advert for concrete5. It gets visitors thinking "If they cant even get something as simple as this banner working smoothly......"

So i certainly don't want it removed completely. Just get it working reliably.
