web crawlers vs real people

Hi I have a question. I always check how many people have downloaded the documents I have available on the website and it usually shows that there are downloads every day. What I'm wondering is if concrete5's statistics are showing me downloads by actual people or web crawlers? Is it possible for web crawlers to download my pdfs and word docs and have it show on the back end stats page?
