what about the file manager and remote files/locations
Permalink
Hellow all
In the last 6 month's I've been a arduous search for a cms that I could put on the internal network for everybody to use intuitively and effectively
it is an organization without any profit and I just dedicated myself to do so in order to facilitate the work of all.
and about a month or more
finally found this amazing solution. I consider, after trying at least 40 cms types, the most intuitive, easy to install and simple to implement. Anyone can install, someone else can implement different and yet someone else can maintain a website without having to be no learning or feedback from the previous person.
It is obvious that any software with time can be further improved, but this product is good and just wonder how will from now one or two years.
But well, let me make a contribution and a possible improvement in my case (as there must be others with the same situation) would make all the difference.
I speak of the "File Manager", giving the chance to add "Remote Files" locations of a network server with shared folders.
That is power addicionar a location like this:
"\ \ server name \ main share folder \ sub folder \ file.ext"
Another suggestion is to allow the assignment of permissions to "File Sets" ie, a user that is created to administer a page can manage one or more file sets, consuante permissions, and even when it does not appear in this log "file Set ".
Here is an idea and suggestion, and the continuation of a great job as what is already done.

You already can tie permissions to file sets. I forget if you need to
turn advanced permissions on to do this, you might. But poke around in
the 5.5 docs and you'll find a bunch of permissions tied to sets.
Remote files... well yes and no. No, concrete5 does want to be able to
access the file itself, so you can't just host an image off of flickr
and have it in the file manager gracefully. Happily, yes, if you want
to store files on a different local server for performance or network
infrastructure you can do that today.
best wishes
