Add a User-owned Page Upon Registration

I am setting up a site where users register, and then a page needs to be created that is owned by them. The page will display their profile information (I know how to do this).
My thoughts are to create a new page under the "Profile" section in the site map. If this is the case, will this page automatically be owned by that user?
Or, is there another way to do this?
