Add-on recommendation

I'm building a site with user registration and fundraising. I'd like for each user's registration to create a profile (a core function, I know) for that user or to be added to a dropdown in a payment form where others can donate money to that user's profile. I'm wanting it to work similar to how BikeMS or Tour de Cure donations work for their events.
Which add-on(s) would work best for this?
