Adding Google Social button before/after title?

I would like to add the "Google +1" button just before each article title so the block approach would not work (or would it?). I don't mind jumping into the code, but being new to Concrete5 I can use some pointers to get me going.

I would try adding this to the Page Defaults: Dashboard -> Pages and Themes -> Page Types, click "Defaults" button next to the page type you want to add this to -- may need to repeat for several different page types depending on the theme and setup of your site.
