Adding menu item to dashboard

Hi all,
What is the easiest way to add a menu item to the dashboard? Specifically, I want to build an area that allows a user to add/modify/delete records to a database, and I want them to do this through the dashboard, vice having to go through another service (aka I want to have everything they'll need centrally localed). I can write the module just fine, I just need to know how to add it to the dashboard menu. Thanks!

add a singlepage to /dashboard, take a look at the example FAQ package in the MP its free
