Admin bar vanished even with header_required and footer_required

I'm new to c5 and this is my first attempt at making a site with it.
I started with doing the sandbox tutorial and then moved on to redoing my single page site. When I just did sandbox the admin bar was working. When I switched the theme to the new one it disappeared.
Any ideas?

update: I'm not sure what I did, but it seems to be working again.
