I recently updated to 5.6.0.1 and turned on Advanced Permissions. I've attached a file showing the current permissions set up and the groups assigned. I only have 2 groups... Admin and Edit Only. I've given what I thought was access to the group Edit Only that would allow them to see the Editor Toolbar when logged in. However, Admin group members are the only ones that see the toolbar. I also have every page type set to inherit these permissions and they all show that they have in fact inherited them.

My ultimate goal is to create a group that can see everything but can only edit Pro Blog and blog postings in general. I figured starting out by given the new group full access would let me then start to drop access and see what happened.
