Advanced permissions ignored

Hello,
I have set advanced permission on a area (in the page types page template) to allow to add only one certain type of block (image block).
I have created a new user group and added the correct permissions to that group for that block.
However when I login with a user in that group the permissions are completely ignored and the user can add any block they wish.
I have cleared cache, disabled cache, edited the permissions in multiple ways. Nothing seems to help. I am on 5.4.2.2.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Anyone find a fix for this???
You might have already fixed this but after you set the permissions on an area in the Page Defaults section, you might need to click on 'Set Up on Child Pages' in order to have these changes take affect on the pages that use that page type.
