Advanced permissions

When users are limit to things can they submit new changes to content area without them having to be approved? if so how because right now everything is needing approval on my site.

Login and go to the home page and in the dashboard strip at the top of the cms press permissions (make sure you are editting the page) and make sure Approved is checked ... see attachment

Mine doen't look like that at all.
I can only select groups that can edit.

you have to turn on advanced permissions
