All of my file links no longer work since "assigning domain" to my bluehost account

I transferred the domain to my account from my partner's account...he copied over all of the files, the site looks and works well.

The only problem is that my "file links" don't work.

The result of the click is "invalid file".

All of my permissions were 755, now they're 777 until I fix this issue, I just have no idea why EVEN AFTER I make a new "link to file" or a "text link" to a file---it comes back invalid file.

Can someone walk me through how to fix a problem with this?

Check the /files directory. It must be writable recursively to the user that Apache runs under. The key work here is recursively. If file system permissions are not the issue, try clearing your C5 cache from the Dashboard. Also always check your Apache logs for anything unusual :)

I don't really know how to change those settings, can you be more specific? I can't believe how fast you tried to help me! Thank you!

My clients and families are upset because coaches can't access the resumes and transcripts that were "a click away" just a week ago.

Here's a tidbit of info you should have...when I'm signed in, the links work fine; You may actually download the file.

It's when I SIGN OUT...that clicking on the links direct me to the "invalid link" page.

They only don't work for a "visitor".

Does that help?

You need to change the access settings in c5.

Go to the Dashboard.
Go to File Manager.
Go to Access.
Set "View Site Files" for "Guests" to "Yes".
Click "Save"
