I noticed that there is no update of the core of C5 for ... a long time (in internet-time). Is C5 still actively developped - or are there only "users" left?

yes, the next update is major and can be found athttps://github.com/concrete5/concrete5... and should be released in the summer.
concrete5.5 is a major overhaul so it takes some time
is there a roadmap on this site somewhere with what to expect in the next release?

I am not following the totally random casts - I watched the first two and found both quite terrible - I guess I expected more details about C5.

It's definitely not something I would want a team of executives to ever see. ha ha.
It seems to me that the weekly random, though lacking in professional presentation, is targeted more at developers and designers. It's light hearted, fun, and community centric. So, although I agree with you in one regard, I don't think you through the baby out with the bath water. There's still informative value there.... i.e. - next release of C5 progress.

As many people that constantly ask Franz when the new version is due out or if the project is still alive, he should create a badge just for them. I attached a mock-up. :-)
