Anyone Have a Full Demo of Creating a Custom Object Type and Binding Text and Number Attributes to It?

I'm at a major roadblock. I now realize that my project needs at least one custom object (it can't be a page or collection, file, or user).

I've read through this thread,
http://www.concrete5.org/community/forums/customizing_c5/new-object...

I (sort-of) understand what transpired in that particular thread and excited for iJessup to return to working on Virtual Tables for C5.5+, but they discuss the various solutions in terms of packages. I've yet to learn how to create a package and wondering if that would be necessary to installing an custom object at this point? If not, what exactly should I install to create a new object and bind new attributes to it? I'm so hoping that someone has a nice demo that is not necessarily a package, or at least explains all the files and root directories and paths where I need to put things in to either create override the core and/or create a package that makes this work.

Cancel that. I figured out ijessup's newobject package enough to make it work for me in C 5.5.1. Awesome. Couldn't be more appreciative.
