Associating Blocks - Update Once

I am 'Joe User' and I created a block on a page called 'My Camping Trip'. I want that block to be on 2 other pages on my site, so I add it to the scrapbook, then add it to the other pages.

Two months later, another awesome camping picture comes around and I want to add it to that block. I add it to one of the pages, but it doesn't update the other instances of this block (on the two other pages I put it on).

What Joe is looking for is a way to 'associate' this block to multiple pages (Like the 'setup on child pages' functionality) so that if it's updated once, it does it across the board.

Discuss.

Make a block
Put it in yer scrapbook
Put it somewhere else
Update the original
go look at the copy..

ta-da

Fastest feature release ever eh? And you didn't even have to update!! <grin>

seriously tho, this stuff does get confusing as you bring versions in. So like if you delete the original, it will still exist on copies because you just deleted the original from the latest version, not all versions.. etc..

It looks like from this post that Andrew is confirming concrete5 does not allow this:http://www.concrete5.org/index.php?cID=3772...

If you look at it like the 'Setup on Child Pages' feature in 'Defaults' it should be pretty simliar.

It seems to me that I should be able to create a block, 'associate' it to multiple pages (through the scrapbook?), make a change to it on ANY of those pages and have it update across the board.

The whole idea of concrete5 is to make things easier to edit right? Well, why make 15 changes when you can make one and have the system update every page it's associated to?

Here's the feature request for anyone interested:http://www.concrete5.org/community/features/associating_a_block_to_...
