Autonav not showing up on Home

I have a custom template for Autonav (in /blocks/autonav/templates) and it works fine. The problem is that my autonav doesn't show up on my home page. Is there something I am missing? Every page that I create has the nav added but my home page doesn't seem to see it. I have even changed it to use the same page type as the other pages and it doesn't show up.
and if it set up on pagetype in the dashboard you also need to apply to all pages, you can't delete the homepage so you need to be sure that it is set up on child pages.
I don't see how to set it up in PageType. When I go to the page type and click on Edit I can set the Icon and Attributes and Delete the page type.
I went to Pagetypes and clicked on Defaults and added it that way.
