Background on Content Block not Showing

I'm trying to get a background image on a content block but it doesn't show.

I'm trying to get home to look like the forum. You will notice that behind the buttons on the forum there is a bar but on the home there is nothing behind the buttons.

I'm trying to use that bar as a background image for the content block on home but it doesn't show when I use it.

Can anyone help me?

Click the block on home page that contains the buttons you wish to add the images too. Instead of clicking edit click design, and there you will find an area to add a background image. (See attached)

Add your background there, and press save, and than publish edits.

The forum, and home page are also using different page types, so if there is no block for you to add the image too, than put your home page into the same page type as forum.

That was what I tried but the background image isn't showing.

i think i just fixed this problem on my own page by clicking on the 'add to ---' underneath the block and then clicking on design from there rather than on the block itself
