Backup not working

Hi,
I am trying to backup my site but it appears nothing is happening when I press the "Backup Database" button (and the menu keeps telling me there are no existing backups).

Is there anyone who could help/offer a suggestion, please?

Could be server permissions , have you been able to do this on any other sites you may have on the same server. ?

Is the attached what you see ?

yes, that is exactly what I see... and when I press 'Run Backup' nothing is happening...

What are your current permissions on the files ?

it is 0755 on the Backup folder

I have tried to make it 0777 just to see if it makes any difference but I am not allowed (Filezilla tells me the owner is 30.8 / wwwrun)
