I want to add a badge system to my site, Kind of like the system The Concrete5 site has.
Is this something i can do and if so how would i go about doing it?

There's 2 add-ons that have a way to manage badges. The first is called 'Rewards', and you can set up badges that users earn for accumulating points.

The other one is the Discussion Forums. It includes a way to assign badges to certain users.

I'm looking into the rewards add-on.
I wasn't so sure how the second had much to do about badges...

Yeah, I would go with the Rewards package, in your case. I have used it myself, and can say that it's quite useful for social sites.
