Best way to capture details for content marketing
Permalink
I want to capture the details of a visitor that wants to download a document. Previously we would have just given it away, however as part of a content marketing strategy we want to ensure we know who is downloading the document.
This is common now across the web, but I am unable to fund anything in the forums or as an add-on that will help us work this out.
Any thoughts and suggestions on the best way to approach this with a 5.6x C5 site?

Name and email address at least, but not much more
I don't know much about 5.6, but here is an idea.
What about a form with fields for the name and email address.
On form submission, you redirect them to a page with the downloadable document.
You could exclude the download page from your navigation.
To prevent search engine crawling, you can Disallow the download page in your robots.txt file and exclude it from your sitemap.xml.

Thanks, I'll give this a try
Hi
Have you seen this?

Tweet to download, I know it's not exactly what you are looking for but I'd say it would be a good starting point to do what you want. Maybe change the pop up to have a form for name and email as well. And it's free!
Or you could use something like Proforms or advanced forms/data display, a cost to them but I have used Advanced forms to take in a persons details and then an automated email is sent with a link to a file download. Another option I suppose.

Thanks Adam. Great outside-the-square idea. Probably a bit more fiddling than the other suggestion, so I'll check out this option if the other fails. Cheers
Hi Brett, I am also looking for a pop up to capture email on my first webpage and link it to an email automation server.
I have chosen MailChimp to start with but don't know how to create the pop up on Concret 5 and link it to MailChimp.
Did you find a solution?
I saw your post is from last year and hope you had found a solution to solve this out :)
Thank you very much in advance!

What details are you trying to capture?
