Beyond Budget Hosting - Recommendations

Permalink 1 user found helpful
My website is currently hosted on webhostinghub. This summer while I was on vacation in a location with poor internet access I received messages from webhostinghub that my website had high resource utilization. The site was actually suspended for a brief period and then placed on a server that "throttled the site" when it went over 100% CPU utilization (as defined by webhostinghub). A support rep explained to me in an email, "As you are on a server that will throttle usage if its limits are exceeded, you should not have to worry about a suspension on your account." Great.

Prior to the suspension I sent a note to webhostinghub and explained to them that I was on vacation and could not address the problem. At the time I asked if I could upgrade my hosting to a business, VPS or dedicated hosting accounting until I had adequate internet access to address the problem. Unfortunately webhostinghub does not have upgrade options. All they offer is budget hosting.

When I returned from vacation I addressed the resource utilization problem and I am now running at a CPU utilization rate that the support group tells me is "closer to more normal usage" for a webhostinghub client.

This is all fine and nice but my website is becoming more popular. I am concerned that as my traffic increases I will not be able to stay within the limits of webhostinghub's 100% cpu utilization (an undefined measure) and periodically end up with a site that is throttled and runs slowly.

Can anyone recommend a good hosting company (in the US) that offers business and/or VPS hosting plans? Does anyone have experience with the business or VPS plans from BlueHost or Arvixe? Any other web hosts worth considering?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I'm having the same problem with one of my site recently. I was just pulling my hair to fix the bug. It generally shows that the CPU usage is near about 94% - 96%, sometime it riches to 100%. And for this the site often went to unavailable mode. I had taken all the required steps but with no joy. Then I decided to move the host. Now I have a Dedicated server on Bluehost. And magically after moving the server, the CPU usage came to its normal stage. Now it shows CPU usage near about 4% - 5%. Though my database size is near about 1.6 GB and it has a high traffic but still it is quite fast.

Hello,
As Web Hosting Hub is one of our hosting partners, if you want private message me your domain name, I can send them a note and see if I can get you a bit more info about the situation.

Best Wishes,
