Blog entry default parent page

I followed the instructions to manually set up the simple blog functionality, but I can't figure out how to get a blog entry to become a child of the blog page by default if you don't add the page while on the blog index page. Can anyone help with this issue?

This really should be in the SB support area.

I'm not sure I understand what you are wanting exactly though. Can you word more in detail what you are doing, and what you want to be able to do?

SimpleBlog is meant to be a front end "block" feeling blogging app. So, add a page, and some blocks is sorta the point.

However, you can also set up page type defaults as well. Simply go to pages & themes, page types, and then edit the sb_blog_post page type to add more blocks, make adjustments ect. then to add a new post, you simply navigate to the main blog area of your site, and add a new blog page being sure to use the sb_blog_post page type to use as a starting point.

Sorry, I wasn't quite clear. I actually meant that I had set up the basic blog according to these instructions:http://www.concrete5.org/documentation/how-tos/editors/manually-set...

I wanted to know if it's possible to add a blog post if a user is not currently on the main blog page. In other words, I'd like to have any page that is added with the type blog_entry to become a child of the blog page.

Thanks for the reply, and let me know if you have any ideas.

I don't think so, but I could be wrong. What you can do is to set the blog page to display pages of type blog_entry that are anywhere in the site- so you see them on the blog page, but they have a different url. Otherwise I think you're stuck going to the blog page and adding a blog_entry type page.

12345J is correct. Just to clarify, what he's saying is that you can't make all new blog_entry pages become children of the main blog page (in terms of the sitemap hierarchy). But you *can* make all new blog_entry pages be shown in the list on the main blog page by going to the main blog page, clicking "Edit Page" in the toolbar, clicking on the block that lists out blog pages, choosing "Edit" from the popup menu, and changing the "Location In Website" option to "Everywhere" (and then saving the block and exiting edit mode and publishing your changes).
