Blog module with "recent post" widget/block?

Hi there,

Newb here! Not to rant too much, but I'd like to say how excited I am to start using Concrete5! I've tried 15+ major CMS systems in the past and none of them have been as easy to learn as C5.

Anyway, does anyone know if there are any blog add-ons for C5 that allow you to have a "recent posts" widget/block on another page that would automatically update and show a preview of the most recent blog post? I looked at a few of the blog addons but I couldn't see that specific feature in their feature lists.

Thanks in advanced for any advice!

That functionality is built into c5, checkout the pagelist block.

Mnkras is correct. A few more details though: If checked the "install sample content" checkbox during the Concrete5 installation process, then go to the "blog" section of your new site to see how this is done. If you've already installed without sample content, you can add a Page List block to any page and tell it to list pages "beneath" the page you're on. After you've added it to the page (but while still in Edit Mode), click on it and choose "Custom Template" from the popup menu. Then choose "Blog Listing" (or maybe it's "Blog Index" -- can't remember exactly) form the menu. Now add new pages under that page (by navigating to that page and clicking "Add Page" in the toolbar) and choose the "Blog Post" page type. When you go back to that top-level page, it should show the blog posts in descending order. If you want it to show more or fewer, edit the Page List block and select the number of pages (posts) there.

Good luck!
