I'm in the middle of setting my website back up, this time with Concrete instead of iWebs. I'm trying to setup a couple blog pages to use to post up previous writings, but the blog pages dont appear to have the option to add more posts. How do I go about this?

With the core blog system, add a page under the blog page; that’s really an listing of all the blog posts or sub-pages. The new page can be any page type but the blog post page is preconfigured.

you want to use blog entry page type, otherwise it will not be shown in the blog's page list without additional configuring.

So then there isn't a way to just add more posts? I have to make an entire page for each entry?

Yeah, but what else would you do?

Ideally I would have a button I could click to just add a new post....kinda like WordPress or any other blogging. The entire reason I've been trying out Concrete5 is due to it supposedly including all these features. In creating a blog page all I've managed to do so far is make a main page post, adding other pages doesn't seem to accomplish much.

check outhttp://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/blog/... orhttp://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/problog/... then, they'll be more like what you're looking for. If all you're building is a blog though, wordpress is probably a better bet for you to go.

I think you were misinformed about how Concrete5 works -- it very intentionally does *not* work like wordpress. Wordpress is great when the act of writing is more important than the actual layout of different pages and the ability to work with different kinds of content easily. Concrete5's interface on the other hand sacrifices some measures of efficiency for ease of use and flexibility.

As others have mentioned, if maintaining the familiar wordpress workflow is important to you, it might be worth investing in Chad's ProBlog or one of the other blog addons in the marketplace.

Or if you don't mind waiting a few months (or more?), there is supposed to be a new feature in the next core release that lets you add new pages more quickly from the dashboard. Wouldn't hold my breath, though -- software always has a way of arriving later than you expect it to :)

I'm trying to use Concrete for the reason that I don't want to use Wordpress. My site is comprised of galleries, short stories, forums, etc. I'm using blog sections because it makes it easier to post the stories up.

Both SimpleBlog and ProBlog have excellent ratings and are built to make these tasks much easier. For the functionality you are wanting, I would go with ProBlog.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna just find some other software then. My current site has been setup with iWebs with an simple HTML pane for inserting a forum into a page, and all I really want is something that I can setup with multiple gallery pages and multiple blog pages and a forum without having to code everything from scratch, without having to keep using iWebs.

If you're after something like iWebs without the monthly payment then C5, Wordpress and the rest are nothing like what your after. iWebs is an enterprise rapid web building software package designed for people who don't design or code.

Wordpress is a step up from that as there are thousands of templates to save your coding or designing.

C5 is for designers though who want to make the cotent of their site look fantastic.

If your willing to put the time in with C5 I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how powerful and easy to use it is.
