Cannot access file via userpages

Dear programmers,
The issue that I encounter is the following.
When i login to my CMS with my credentials (member + admin) I can do everything. I can view the site just as it is menat to be. But when other users log in and they are part of teh correct groups then can't for example see files.
We have 2 sorts of members in our diving club. We have club members (Leden) who can see 1 extra page (menu item) once logged in to the side. But when they come to this page they can not see any content such as files, (meeting minutes etc.), while I can. I am also a member of (Leden). I made some screenschot in the attachement that will explain what i try to describe here.
I did contact a person here who was very helpful, but seemed not be able to assist me in such depth that he could solve the problem.
Anybody who can assist, please help.

Dear,
Is anybody able to assist here? I tried all,
- allocate proper rights to members and member groups
- allocate right to the block
It really is a shortcoming in concrete to solve this properly.

hello - it looks like your problem is that some users are not able to see the block that is listing the files.
When you login you are always admin even if you are part of another group so you will always see everything.
As admin click on your block on the page that lists the files and then check the permissions.

Dear AndyJ,
I logged in as admin, went to the pageand opened the lock properties and the block is opn to the group that must see it. (Leden + Bestuur).
W
When a member (part of Leden) will login then the "Leden" homepage will appear in the menu structure, when a member (part of Bestuur), who are automatically also part of LEden then 2 new pages will appear, namely Leden and Bestuur in the menu structure.
That is working.
Only INSIDE these pages there is a block and this block lists file in a file set. As admin i can view them, and when as Leden or Bestuur I can not see this file content.
You can see it in the attachement.
It is of real importance wht we can share files via de site after logging in.

Hi,
can you get a screendump of the block permissions?
can you get a screendump of the block permissions?
just attach the image - don't bother with a word doc.
Is the File Set a Public Fileset? What type of block are you using to display this Fileset?
Dear AndyJ: Pls see attachment
Dear Hutman:
The block is: List files from set - 1.0.4
The file sets are all Public sets.
Hope this will do.

Hi,
if you add guest to the view permissions on the block does it become available to the world without logging in?

Dear Hutman,
Adding guest to the block setting has no effect.

what if you clear your cache completely (doesn't even matter if you don't currently set It to be used).
Clearing cache has no effect
so it looks very much as though the permissions cascade is not working for some reason and it is not cache related.
What happens if you change the permissions back on the block to take the default permissions from the area and not to override them at all. Is this block added directly into the page or is it added via a stack?
The permissions should cascade down from the homepage - through the subpages - via the parent page - to the page and then down through areas, stacks blocks etc so long as they are not impeded in any way.

The block has been added normally. after setting up i copied it from the cache.
All have same settings, double checked. neither variant does work. A newly added block or a block copied from cache.

Is there a method to view the cacaded rights structure?
If you like I can create an user account and an admin account so you can check?

I don't know of one other than checking manually though the various pages / blocks etc.
I can take a look if you like - PM me a user id and password.

ok - I've logged in and had a look around and I'm a little confused.
If I log in as the test admin user you created:
I see both the Leden and Bestuur pages and the multiple 'List Files From Sets' blocks you have on the right-hand side of the page.
If I log in as the test user who belongs to group Leden I can see the Leden page - but as expected I cannot see th Bestuur page.
Apologies if I've misunderstood or am looking at the wrong thing.
If I go into the Leden page I can see the blocks on the right hand-side of the page.
There is a content block at the top with a title in it and then below that there are 6 instances of the 'List files from set block' as follows:
Documenten
Leden
Presentaties
Reisverslagen
ALV Stukken
Planning
None of these links work as there are no files in the sets and also they are set to display 0 files.
This looks like it is working to me - are we seeing something different?

Exactly, this is what I see as well/
However a member of "Leden" should be able to see the files under Leden.
a member of bestuur should see files on Leden and Bestuur
But it seems that only the admin is allowed to see the files and the members not.
We have 2 sorts of members
Leden (members of the club that need to download course instructions and member info from bestuur etc.)
Bestuur (members of the club that are members of the board so to speak, we run the club and need to see information in bestuurs page not visible to others).
It should be that members Leden should see the files also..

but the filesets are empty so there are no files to see.
All you see is the block links but presumably they are inactive as there are no files in the filesets (I'm also not sure if it might not cause issues having multiple instances of the same block in the page).
If I'm logged in as either admin or Leden I see the links but cannot see any files.

I can't see any files in the site/file manager even as a user with admin rights.
You can see them if you are logged in as superadmin though?

are you able to log in as superadmin?
i dont know what a super admin is nor how to set it.
i will give you my credentials.
i will give you my credentials.
Hi,
when the site is created a superuser is also created called admin. Your admin user was renamed to the one you have beginning with V - the user id of superadmin is always 0.
Something is seriously messed up in your site. If I log in with a user with exactly the same rights as you I cannot see the same things and it isn't because the file ownership has been set to you user or anything like that.
I'm not sure what to suggest.
I'd log in as the super user and reset all of the rights everywhere to see if they will reset.
Have you ever had any other issues with the site / upgrade problems etc.
I see you are on 5.6.3.2 - I might consider a full backup and then upgrade to 5.6.3.3 but if you do - do make sure you make a backup first.
I'll take another little look though in case anything crops up.

Dear Andy,
I havent used the admin account since i lost password. Lucklly i had another admin created that still works. I guess i need a hand here to get the admin pasword back if that is possible.
Yes I had update problems. Another volunteer helped me to update it via the cpanel. But now it won't update again. I tried it already.
resetting the righjts stucture, I would like to do that but I will need a hand here as well.
Please approach me directly and we can post the end result and the steps later here on this forum.
