Cannot edit website

Permalink 1 user found helpful
Hello. I am new to concrete5. I have previously been maintaining a website through iWeb but would like to try this site builder. I did the install which seemed to do okay but when I log in as admin on my URL I don’t have any editing options. There is nothing telling me I am connected to concrete5 and no options at the top or bottom of the screen. I don’t mind starting from scratch but can’t find how to do that either. Please help!

Hi camogenny,

I'm making some assumptions here on the details available:
1) You wish to build a New site and you used an installer to add Concrete5 to a new hosting account and your new concrete5 site url is not the same as your existing/previous site.
2) you tic'd the selection box during installation that asked to install sample content ( this is not critical but is Hugely Helpful if you're not familiar with C5!).
3) when navigating to your newly installed site, you then clicked on the link at the bottom of the page that says "sign in to edit this site"
4) after logging in, you Don't have an edit bar across the top of the screen?

If this is so, could you post a url of the site so we can take a peek?

I already had a website that was designed in iWeb and hosting with MacHighway. I completed the steps to download concrete5. Am i now creating an entirely different site? Because when I attempted to go towww.www.carterfirearms.net/index.php/login... to login as admin, it took me to my already existing website but with no editing toolbar.

Ahhh, that explains it. Concrete5 won't override your original website and let you edit it... its a completely different system. You would be best off moving or reinstalling C5 in another directory with its own name(maybe create a subdomain ie. c5.yoursite.com) and start building your new site there. Once its to your liking, it can be moved to replace your current site.
