Cant link the login authentication

I have made my site live my moving my files into the root from the concrete5.7x.x folder.

But upon logging in I get this error message:
Not Found
The requested URL /login/authenticate/concrete was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I need to urgently fix this.

Any ideas please?

Before you moved the site, did you turn off Pretty URLs, turn off the cache, and clear the cache?

If not, try turning Pretty URLs off, clear the cache (you will probably want to manually delete everything in the /application/files/cache directory).

Is this the only error you are experiencing or is there anything going on with the front end of your site?

Unforunately the webhost has deleted the previous directory so all the links aims at that directory.

Is there a php file I have can change to set it all straight?

Did you delete everything from the cache directory?

yes. I can't put the files back as they were (back into concrete5.7.x.x folder) as I tried that and now get a 500 server error.
