Can't login as admin after enabling user registration
Permalink
Hello,
I am allowing user registration in version 5.6.1.2. However, upon logging out to test, I found I could not log back in as administrator - an email address is now required as opposed to a login ID, and the email address associated with the account does not work; I suspect this is because it was not copied as an existing user with admin permissions. Where should I start in order to diagnose the problem?

Thanks for your reply, Adreco. I am not getting the emails for lost password, nor am I seeing anything in the logs. I did see that there was an old email address in the db, so I updated it. But no email is coming to that address. I am fairly new to editing mySQL - do I need to restart something for the changes to take? It seems that I don't since I received a success message for emailing the password to the address I updated.
Also, I would like to enable an additional admin with full permissions... Is that straightforward enough to do from PHPmyAdmin?
Thanks for your help!
Chris

Try logging into your database (using PhpMyAdmin or similar from your hosting control panel) and scroll down the list to "Users" and browse to view the actual email associated with your admin account. IF the email being sent to that account is visible after you attempt the password reset from the login page, return to the database and browse the "Log" table to copy the link that should have been emailed out. That should help you reset and get back in.
Hope this helps
Adrian
