Change page attribute on the front-end

Is there a way to change a page attribute on the front-end on the website? Without having to go into the 'Properties' link?

I have a 'background' image attribute, and I want a user to be able to change it without going into the Page Properties area.

you can do it any number of ways, you can make a block that does it, or integrate something into the pagetype.

Do you know what code I would have to use to hard code it into the page type? I don't know PHP, sorry... =(
