Changing page after login

Hi,
I'm slightly new to PHP, though familiar with other languages.
What I'd like to achieve is that after logging in using the link at bottom of homepage the user is not taken to the dashboard overview, but instead to the homepage in edit mode (with toolbar showing).
Can anyone advise how I might accomplish that??

You can go to the dashboard to change the setting under Users and Groups/Login and Registration. There is a setting that allows your user to go to specific pages after a login event.
