Core Calendar Topics Display

Does anyone have a clue how I might get topics to show up in the lightbox display for this new core calendar system?
I'd also like to get topic text labels to show up in the main calendar list view and eventually, in an events list on sidebars. Right now they show up as color dots, and if an event shares more than one topic, only one color dot is shown.
Also, on the dashboard calendar page, you have the menu to filter by topics. It would be most beneficial if that was available on the front end cal also...
Beyond that, I would like to mess with the layout in general of the main calendar list view, but I can't seem to find where that markup hides. This is much less important than having functional topics.
