Date format for Date/Time attributes when choosing Date Only

While add a new date/time attribute, i've given three choices to choose from "Both Date and Time", "Date Only", "Text Input Field".
When i choose it as "Date Only", I still get the output as "2015-03-02 00:00:00", why time is showing!
Say, if it is for product delivery, i have two fields with one for Delivery time (a custom attribute) and Delivery Date(date/time) attributes, in this case the output return by date/time attribute is misleading the user. i don't know it is a bug or not? But as per the option it must show only the date!
