Date/time attribute : saving return 1/1/1970

Hi,
I added a Date/time attribute editable in profile.
The user can modify it in his national format, e.g dd/mm/yyyy for french user.
But after saving, the new value is 1/1/1970 because the date saved is not in English format.
For example, an english date : 04/22/2008
In french : 22/04/2008
So, saving will failed because there is no "22" months in a year.
Any idea?
