Different areas in different pages

Just started playing around with Concrete5, I am trying to convert an HTML template. I have created a few editable areas but I don't want all these area to appear in all pages but only in selected ones. Basically, I would areas with no blocks not to be visible. Is that possible?

sort of. what you want to do is make a lot of page types and in some of them delete certain areas. for instance, if you wanted the footer editable on the home page but not on about you'd create a page type called about (just copy default.php and rename it, and then delete the line
<?php
    $a = new Area('Footer');
    $a->display($c);
?>
within about.php. make sense?

It's a lot less long winded than coding collapsible area positions with php.
