Disabling cache for a block only?

Hi,

Is it possible to disable the new caching feature in C5 v 5.4.1 for blocks only? I've got the feeling it's causing problems with my navigation.

I'm using an autonav (stored in my global scrapbook) that I've hard-coded into a template, but every time I enable the cache, the active class stays on only one of the links in the autonav (i.e. in Home-About-News even if News is the current page, the active class appears on About).

Considering disabling the cache sorts the problem (and I didn't have this issue before upgrading), I think it must be because the autonav is being cached and causing the active class to 'stick' to one of my nav items....

Thanks

Can anyone help with this? I'd like to speed up my site with the cache but can't while it caches my navigation...

Thanks

Bump.

I guess there is no answer to this then or that I have successfully confused everyone?

Hey, sorry you haven't had an answer on this yet. I need to run some tests and see if I can replicate that behaviour. If I can, then that's quite a big deal, 'cos the autonav is usually on every page, so it's not like you can just switch it off on a single page! What would help though, is to know what version of C5 you are running and what your cache settings are. In the meantime, I'll set something up on my test site and see what I get...

I've tested this on a fresh install of 5.4.1.

I have cache turned on and page caching set to the emergency, cache everything mode. However, I can't replicate the problem. My nav-selected class is moving between links just fine as I browse around the site.

Do you have a link to your site I can look at??

Hi Jon,

Apologies for the delay in responding, I've been away.

I'll PM you a link to the test site with pword and username so you can take a look - the example I'll send you is another site that is having the same problem as the one I described originally, so I'm looking for similarities between the way I developed the site to pinpoint why this is happening.

If you can think of anything in the meantime, it would be great to hear your opinion!

Thanks
