Ecommerce & reserved seating
Permalink
Just a general question to see if anyone has any ideas about this.
I have a request for a website for a small theatre. They want to have a calendar of events (no problem, calendar add-on) and also be able to sell tickets online. If they are going to sell general seating (one option), the Ecommerce add-on will be perfect. However, they are also talking about reserved seating.
One idea I had was to make a group of products that were all the seats in the house (there's like 300 or so). Then, when they have a new event, copy that group over to the event associated with it. One problem is I'd have to change the prices on every item, as the prices vary depending on the event. The other problem is showing where the tickets actually are (like a seating map) would be extremely helpful (and show what tickets have been sold, etc.).
So, I'm betting there's nothing already available for this. Any ideas of how to put this together? Or am I looking at commissioning some custom programming? If I end up going that route I'd like to package this as an add-on for the marketplace.
If anybody has some tips or can point me in the right direction, it would be appreciated.
