Editing Home Page template

Hi All,
I'm new to C5 but am trying to insert FrontPageSlideShow to my home page by editing default.php in my Themes folder. This works but the shideshow appears on every page, not just the home page. I also have landing.php in my themes folder, I added the shideshow code on that and nothing happened. I'm stuck! Any ideas?
