Emails to notify me of Comments does not work

Hello,

I discovered recent Spam on the comments of my blog since December 31st, and they hit my Blogs randomly. Now I am in the process of deleting. Problems:

1) I went into one Blog that had good comments from a person I know, but when I decided to update the Guestbook Block and Turned On "need approval" then entered my email address - info@GeminiUniversal.com - and updated, it deleted all the good comments PLUS the Spam! Is there anyway to get the good comments back?

2) I went into another Blog and Turned On "need approval" and entered my email address - I've tried a few times now to enter a comment of my own to see if I get alerted to go back in and "approve" the comment, but no notifications have hit my info@GeminiUniversal.com email box. What could be wrong? The function is telling me "my comment has been posted" - I don't see it, of course, because it needs approved. But if I don't get an email alert, how do I know to look?

UPDATE! it worked when I entered a comment with my comcast email...I got the alert at my info@GeminiUniversal.com - However, it did NOT work when I entered a comment using my yahoo email....NO alerts came through to info@GeminiUniversal.com

????? Any ideas here of what's wrong?

3) It seems cumbersome to go into every Blog individually and Turn On Comments - is there some master page where this can be fixed, or is it really individual for every blog? I'm fixing all the blogs now that have spam comments, one by one, updating the GuestBook by Turning On approval and adding my info@GeminiUniversal.com for the alert. There must be a master function somewhere. Any ideas?
