Enhancing Composer

I have a site where we're using the Composer for our News and Blog sections.
The client would like the option of including a FlowPlayer block in the content.
If I add a FlowPlayer block to the Page Type, I have to give it a default video (the block validates and can't be added without selecting files.)
Then if I check "Include block in Composer" in the Composer Settings, that means every future post will include a video.
Is it possible to add the block as optional, similar to the way the default blog has an optional thumbnail? I'd like the video option to be included in the composer, but not required.

That's pretty neat, but not what I had in mind. I really just wanted to tweak Composer so that a user could add different content blocks.
Right now, they can create a page in composer, but if they want additional blocks, they have to use the traditional page edit mode and add new blocks after the blog entry has been published.
