I am sitting here at a website for a dog breeding and wanted to create an Express data object for dogs.

With the attributes I get to the point where I should select the parents of the dog.
My wish is to be able to select dogs already entered in this Express data object. Of course, there are also limits, because at some point you don't want to enter the family tree any further back, i.e. the fields parents should also be allowed to remain empty.

I'm grateful for every guide, because I don't have an idea how to solve this with Express.
