External link as a page - Analytics

I got an external link which is set as a a page on my website. For eg,www.www.mywebsite.com/external_link.... I did this by going into page search and updating the page property.

My guess was that if someone were to visit that external link page, I would be able to track it from Google Analytics since they have to pass through my website. BUT, I am not seeing that traffic coming through.

Is there something special that needs to be done here??

Why don't you make a concrete5 page, insert your external content (on your server or another one...) with an IFRAME in that page and track the traffic with analytics by pasting the tracking code in the concrete5 dashboard.

There's a field for your custom tracking code in the dashboard! Dashboard -> System & Settings -> Tracking Codes. You can use Google Anlytics or Piwik or whatever you want.

For insterting the external source with an iframe you can use the HTML-Block.
