External Links won't work – any ideas?

Hi all, I'm trying to add an external link to a menu item in an auto nav. I'm going to Sitemap and selecting the page, clicking it and then selecting the option at the bottom of the pop up menu (Add External Link). I add the link and it appears in tree view on the sitemap. However, when you view the site the link doesn't work?

This is simple stuff so I must surely be doing something wrong. Can anyone tell me if I am?

Thanks for your help.
John

Do you mean the link does not appear in the menu?
or
Do you mean the link address (aka url) is incorrect?

There are four links in the auto nav. Two link to pages ON the site and 2 link to external websites. All links are visible but the two that should link to external sites only link to the pages that were made on the auto nav so that the menu items appeared in the auto nav in the first place.

How can I make these two links point to external sites?

Hey John,
Adding a link does not apply to a current page, it should be used instead of creating a new page. If you already created an upper level page, try deleting it from the sitemap... then select "Home" and choose "add external link" INSTEAD of "add page". It will now appear on your Nav and should link to the URL you entered.
Let us know if this clears up your problem

Bingo! Thank you Adreco. It's so obvious now, why on earth did I not think about trying that. Thanks a million, huge help!
