Facebook app id

I am not a website builder, but I administer a site that was built for me. I have downloaded a free app (a 'like' facebook button). I'm trying to add the facebook button to a page on my website and am being told that I need a facebook app id. Any ideas how I get this please?

You need to login to fb and go to developers.Facebook.com and create an app. When you are finished it will supply you your app I'd and secret key.

Thank you so much for your early response. I have done what you said but still have not been furnished with my app key. How can I find it please?

if you've created the app, on the left side of your fb in the menu there should be a "developer" area with your app in it. Click on it and your app id should be on that page. And if you need your app secret you have to click to show it as you will see!!

Thank you. I am using a Business facebook page rather than a personal one, does this make a difference because I don't see a Developer area.

I'm only aware of being able to do this using a regular account, and then you should be able to visit the app page and get the id and secret as I've described... someone has to be the "owner" of the fb app...
