Feature Request: ICS support in calendar

Good morning,

I'm not certain of the best place to put feature requests, but I'd love to see a JSON .ics parser for .ics feeds be implemented in the Core calendar.

We have .ics feeds that come out of SQL database for the purpose of subscribing to department needs and events. This would allow us to have a live feed of needs and events on our website using C5 and not requiring manual entry.

Finding a way to get .ics feeds embedded into calendar add-ons and getting external fullcalendar and .ics parsers to work together inside a theme has proven difficult and time consuming for me.

I would love the fullcalendar implementation in C5 to be expanded to include an .ics parser (or to have the ability for the user to add javascript in a text box for inserting into fullcalendar install.

thanks

Hello. Why not post in the job board?

That is a good idea (I'd still like to submit that the ability to enter a feed address as the calendar source is a feature that would benefit many rather than manual event entry being the only option).

thanks

I do agree with you it would be a great addition that would make it easier on users.

But the idea behind Concrete5's core blocks is to provide us with the basic features that will suit most situations, and, at the same time, make them open enough that they can be enhanced and built on depending on specific requirements.

If the core team was spending too much time making the blocks full-featured, they wouldn't have time to develop and stabilize the core.
