File manager thumbnails missing (on one version of IE8 only)

I have recently updated a few of my sites to 5.6.0.2 and when viewing the file manager on any of them using IE8 version 8.0.7601.17514, all I get is empty rectangles instead of thumbnails.
I know IE is crap and I'm sure it's probably microsoft's fault, but this didn't happen on the previous versions of C5. Given that it affects all my sites I'm guessing this is a 5.6.0.2 bug.
